What We Do

Visit our Gallery for photos of our events.

America’s Gold Star Families was founded to provide honor, hope and healing to those grieving any military loss. We open our arms to all family members who have lost a loved one in service to our country through service in the United States Armed Forces.

“To care for him who shall have borne the battle, for his widow and his orphan.” Abraham Lincoln 1865

President Lincoln’s admonishment is what we at AGSF endeavor to do on a daily basis with the following programs, services and partnerships.

  • Award annual scholarships and grants to family members (see guidelines below)
  • Underwrite grief counseling
  • Freedom Garden where all produce is donated to local veterans
  • Work with legislators for highway designations in honor of fallen heroes
  • Children’s Greeting Card Program–we send birthday cards with enclosed gift cards to children of the fallen across the USA. Currently we send to 500+ children located in 44 states and 4 countries.
  • Fallen Heroes Tree of Honor in Illinois State Capitol

  • Dedicated Gold Star Families Memorial Highway, Route 6, Peoria, Illinois
  • Inaugural 5K Run/1 Mile Walk for Fallen Heroes
  • Distributed fresh produce to local veterans
  • Dedicated Gold Star Memorial Marker at Tower Park, Peoria Heights, IL
  • Hosted the Fourth Annual Commemoration
  • Partnered with the Sgt. Anthony R. Maddox Memorial to host the first Fallen Heroes Tree of Honor erected in the Illinois State Capitol, Springfield, IL

If the family prefers to create their own ornament it can be mailed to Tree of Honor, 2301 Interlocken Dr., Bloomington, IL 61704. For more info contact Fran Maddox, 309-825-5121 or email AGSFTreeOfHonor@gmail.com.
