For Military Programs

 

America’s Gold Star Families annually awards $1000 scholarships to family members of a fallen hero while serving active duty. Each is a non-renewable scholarship to be used at a college/university or trade/vocational school of their choice to enable them to follow their aspirations for a higher education or vocation certification. This is our way of saying ‘Thank you from a grateful nation.

 

Scholarship Guidelines

Since the inception of the Scholarship Program, AGSF has awarded $80,000.00+ in scholarships to family members of the fallen to help accomplish their goals and pursue their dreams. In 2024, we will award a total of twenty-five (25) additional $1,000 scholarships for study to a College, University or Trade/Vocational School certification. The award check will be made payable and mailed to the financial aid office/bursar office of the respective  college, university, or trade school. Please provide accurate address for check to be mailed to so there are no interruptions in processing.

The scholarship opportunity is open to:

  • Parent
  • Spouse
  • Child(ren)
  • Siblings

who lost a loved one while serving on active-duty military to our country. See the “Scholarship Application” for guidelines on how to provide proof of meeting eligibility requirements.

 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • An individual can apply once per school year.
  • Disqualification, should a student change their mind on schooling choice, creates a stop payment on the check. AGSF is charged $30.00 per check for stop payment.

 

 

How to Register

Family members who want to be considered for a scholarship award this year should click the “Scholarship Application” button at the top of our home page and follow the instructions for completing and submitting the application. Once submitted, you will receive an email confirming the receipt of your application.

 

Selection Process

Each application will be considered individually by our AGSF selection committee based on the details provided and evaluated on the relevance of the course of study to the applicant’s stated goals. Applications are reviewed weekly, and applicants will be notified of our decision via email at that time.

Scholarship Application

We are pleased that you have chosen to apply for one of the AGSF Scholarships. Good for you! If you meet all of the criteria for eligibility and your application is selected, you will receive $1000 toward your study at a college/ University/Trade/Vocational School of your choice.

Instructions for Submitting your Completed Application

Upload required documents on website. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. We do not accept partial applications.

  1. Completed and signed application.
  2. Proof of eligibility (e.g., obituary showing the deceased’s name and date of death and proof of your relationship to the deceased or personal reference letter indicating both.)

  3. Proof of acceptance to College or Vocational program
    We will confirm receipt of your information via email and then notify you within a week of our decision
    on your application.
